Q: What insurance do you take? We currently accept and file for Medicare, Aetna, Alliance, Mamsi, MDIPA, Optimim Choice, United Health Care and Vision Service Plan (VSP).
Once your vision benefit and copay is verified by phone at check in, then we will bill your exam directly. If your insurance company is not on our list, then our policy is to have you pay us for services rendered. We provide you with a receipt with necessary medical codes for you to submit for direct reimbursement.
Q: How long do I have to wait for an appointment with the optometrist? There is usually less that a week’s wait to see the optometrist and occasionally, if it is an emergency we can get you in on the same day that you called.
Q: How long does an eye examination take? The optometrist will spend approximately 45 minutes thoroughly examining your eyes which includes testing your peripheral vision, binocular vision, the glaucoma test and retinal evaluation to check the health of your eyes. The length of your exam can also vary with the complexity of your visual problem.
Q: If I wear contacts, then do I need to remove them prior to the examination? No, the optometrist wants to evaluate the current fit and vision of your current contacts so wear your contacts to the exam! Sometimes hard lens wearers may need further evaluation on a separate day if warping of the cornea is in question.
Q: How long does it take to get my glasses? It depends on many factors including the frame you choose, the special coatings that will be on your glasses, and the complexity of your prescription. Many times we will have the prescription lenses in our lab and can cut them into the frame on the same day in 30 minutes. If the lenses need to be ordered, then it is generally still a quick turn around time. We do our best to tell our patients an accurate completion date at the time of order. Q: How often do I need an eye exam? Although you may not realize it, the best way to protect your vision is with a yearly eye exam. Our doctors do a comprehensive and extremely thorough exam. They can detect such vision-threatening conditions as tumors, vascular irregularities, macular degeneration, glaucoma, strokes and diabetes-related injury to the retina. Help them keep your eyes healthy by coming in for your yearly eye exam!
